Jake Anders is a fitness professional and owner of Florida Strong Fitness LLC. Jake is originally from Northern Virginia and moved to South Carolina to attend the College of Charleston. He obtained his degree in 2019 and soon after got an internship as a sports performance coach. In this position, Jake learned how to train clients in a small group setting. In 2023, Jake moved to the Tampa Bay area to re-start his health a fitness career. He has since started his own business and has built up a clientele base in-person and online.

My Personal Fitness Journey

I was very skinny growing up. When my mom signed me up for personal training at the age of 12, I did not understand why. I thought that since I wasn’t fat, I was healthy. I remember doing incline pushups on the bar, because I struggled with doing a real pushup. After a few sessions, I still didn’t have a true understand why weight training and exercise were important.

When I was a freshman in high school I weighed about 135lbs at 5’11. I could barely bench the bar on the flat barbell bench press. From my sophomore to senior year of high school, I attended group workouts at a local gym with my high school/ travel baseball team. The coaches at the gym pushed me to reach new personal bests and gave me more confidence. I was able to put on muscle and size by the time I graduated and weighted 165lbs at 5’11.

I used this momentum going in to my freshman year of college. I went to the gym 4-6x week and soon became a routine.

To this day, I still go to the gym at least 6 times a week and still making progress.
